CORTIÇA - 100% português. 200% moda

Today, I was going to tell you about my next purchase - a cork bag.
I'm always stunned when I see them in a tent in the mall I use to go and decided to share this fascination.
But then I did some research and i'm more and more convinced about the advantages of this material.

In a period when the word CRISIS is all around us, we find a sector in which Portugal leads the market and that represents 3% of our contry's exportations: cork.

It is nothing but the truth. This material, besides being used in the space industry (the globally applauded NASA), automobile (yes, Ford and Rolls Royce are converted) and engineering, presents itself to us also in the fashion world, with growing potential. Why? "The Economist" magazine equates cork to African diamonds and the Middle East oil, but gives in another advantage: its resources are renewable and non polluting. Well, fashion world finds itself, nowadays, hand in hand with the society and its concerns, trying to match the products to the needs of the populations, the environment and the economy.

After finding all this, i couldn't stop, so I went on searching for more...

Thanks to its impermeability to liquids and gases, lightness/buoyancy (density around 0,2), humidity resistance, elasticity (it is the only solid that doesn't suffer lateral dilatation), great wear resistance, the non absorbance of dust, avoiding allergies and being resistant to combustion (the list could go on), our designers, sensitive to the developments of our environment, have made a statement with this material.

In 2007, in "Remade in Portugal" exhibition, Luís Buchinho was present with his bag "Butterfly", having been associated with the portuguese brand "Pelcor" (created in 2003, has been present in Feira Sipiel, in Madrid (2006), Portugal Fashion (October 2006), "Remade in Portugal" in 2007 and 2008, both times associated with Luís Buchinho, in the International fair of pure fashion, in London (2008) and in Feira Riva del Gardo, Dubai (2009).

For those who still think that, if it has not been tested internationally, it doesn't exist, i have some news... Yves Saint Laurent has already used it and the genial master of shoes: Louboutin, of course, hasn't let our cork go unnoticed also.
